Zygon

The Zygon Center (ZCRS) was established in 1988 as a program of LSTC and the Center for Advanced Study in Religion and Science (CASIRAS). It was founded by Ralph Wendell Burhoe, professor emeritus at Meadville Lombard Theological School.

“Zygon,” a Greek word meaning “yoke,” describes the goal of bringing together scientists, theologians and other scholars to research basic questions and issues of human concern. ZCRS is dedicated to relating religious traditions and scientific knowledge to gain insight into the origins, nature, and destiny of humans and their environment.

The Center publishes Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science and offers seminars, courses, conferences and guided research. For information, contact the director, Dr. Benjamin Stewart, at zygoncenter@lstc.edu.
